Prickly Pear Cactus

Prickly pears are the fruit of the cactus plant. They are named for their pear-like shape and size. The texture and aroma of the fruit is very similar to grainy watermelon, with a mild sweetness.  The seeds from the prickly pears are very similar to the seeds of the kiwi fruit. Prickly pears make a great addition to any summer chicken salad or fruit salad and can be made into or added to any juice drink or smoothie.
